I hope very much indeed that the Labour Party will start, immediately, to take on board the huge issues around FGM (female genital mutilation) in the UK: http://hilaryburrage.com/tag/fgm/ . FGM is a potentially lethal practice which also damages enormously the lives of many who survive it.

I would be happy to help in any way I can.

I hope you will also want to support this e-petition:

Thank you

Well done Ed! for standing up to payday loan sharks and promising to impose a levy on them with which to support credit unions. However, we need to go further – what is also needed is a legal cap on interest rates.

That bastion of socialism the United States has this, each state sets their own usury limit, but they vary from 6% – 25%. Lending at higher rates than this is illegal. Compare that with here, where Wonga charge up to 6,000% APR and a £350 loan from Sunny Loans at 1971% APR (variable) is designed to be paid back @ £1267.80 over 12 months.

That is robbery, pure and simple, and it should be stopped.
